Motivational Sayings of Prophet Muhammed about Human Relations

The prophet of God, (peace be upon him) said: ‘No one among you attains true faith, until he likes for his brother what he likes for himself.’(Bukhari, Muslim: Anas)

The Messenger of God, (peace be upon him) said: ‘The believers in their mutual love, compassion and sympathy are like one body: when one of its parts suffers from some illness, the rest of the body whares its suffering with sleeplessness and fever.’ (Bukhari, Muslim: Nu’man ibn Bashir)

The Messenger of God, (peace be upon him) said: ‘All creatures are God’s family; and God loves them most who treat his family well and kindly. (Baihaqi: Anas)

The Messenger of God, (peace be upon him) said: ‘Only those who are merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Show mercy to those who are on earth, He who   is in heaven will show mercy to you’-(Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi: Abdullah ibn ‘Amr)

Finding God by Serving Mankind

The Messenger of God, (peace be upon him), said: God will say, ‘Son of Adam, I fell ill but you did not visit Me.’ He will say, ‘O Lord, and how could I have visited you ! You are the Lord of the worlds-‘He will say, ‘did you not know that My so-and-so servant had fallen ill and you did not visit him? Did you not know that had you visited him you would have found Me with him?’

‘Son of Adam, I asked you for food but you did not feed Me’. He will say, ‘O Lord, how could I have fed you! You are the Lord of the worlds!’ He will say, ‘My so-and-so servant asked you for food and you did not feed him’? Did you not know that had you fed him you would surely have found that with Me?’

‘Son of Adam, I asked you to give Me to dring but you did not give Me,’ He will say, ‘O Lord, how could I have given you to drink! You are the Lord of the worlds!’ He will say, ‘My so-and-so servant asked you to give him to drink and you did not give him. Had you given him to drink you would surely have found that with Me.’ (Muslim: Abu Hurairha)

What Islam Says about Helping Brothers in Islam

Abu Sayeed related that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whoever clothes a naked Muslim, Allah will clothe him with the green robes of Paradise: whoever feeds a hungry Muslim, Allah will feed him from the fruits of Paradise and whoever gives drink to a thirsty Muslim, Allah will give him drink from the Fountain (of Paradise)-(Abu Daud, Tirmidhi)

This saying of prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) clearly emphasize on the existence of brotherhood in Islam. Any Muslim is a brother of another Muslim wherever he is living on earth. If we need to enjoy the fruits of Paradise we must keep our duties and obligations with our brothers in Islam.

The intention of a Muslim behind all his deeds which will fulfill the rights of his co-believer must be the reception of Divine pleasure. It must not be just for the sake of worldly profits. Muhajirs(migrants) and Ansars of Madina are the best models in Islam for this. At the time of Hijra, Ansars helped by all means the Muhajirs even by marrying their daughters and sisters to them and making them partners in their business, only in order to promote Muslim brotherhood and help their affected brothers.

Anas ibn Malik narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Help your brother when he commits a wrong or a wrong is committed against him. Someone asked, O Messenger of Allah! I could help him if a wrong is committed against him, but how shall I help him if he is himself committing a wrong; He answered: Stop him from committing the wrong that is helping him. (Bhyukhari)

We Muslim should do charity works and other types of services for our co-believers. When our brother is sick, we should serve him monetarily. If he is struggling for a living we should help him giving a job or showing any means of earning a living. All these are examples of helping him physically. Besides this all Muslim has a duty to help his brother morally. That is if he goes in wrong path and tends to follow the bad course, we should first admonish him or use force if essential, otherwise its bad effects would reach to the whole Ummah.

The very important thing about our relationship with Allah and with our brother is that, Allah may forgive the lapses regarding His worship but would in no case pardon the lapses regarding the rights of people. But the most pathetic thing is that every Muslim is a stranger to his next door neighbor. But in the Day of Judgment we all will be questioned by Allah, regarding the rights of our brother due upon him.
